5 Characteristics of Jesus you should Emulate this Easter

In the spirit of Easter, I decided to write on some unique qualities that Jesus possessed while He was here on earth. A lot of people when they hear about Christianity (which a derivative from Christ), get tensed up. They view Christians as judgmental and hateful, and maybe some Christians have exhibited those character flaws, but it is not supposed to be so. Through this post, I want people to begin to view Christians/Christianity through the lens of Jesus Christ. He is the most loving person that exists to this day and hopefully even if you are not Christian; you can learn a thing or two from Him. Movie with a Message: War Room

At one point or the other in our lives, we must have heard relationships aren't easy, or marriage is hard work. The thought of two people coming from entirely different backgrounds to be united as one can be a hard pill to swallow sometimes. The way both parties are brought up is apparently different because they didn't grow up in the same household and if they did, that would be weird because you are probably getting married to your sibling and you all will have strange children. But jokes aside, it is not easy joining different backgrounds that is why people butt heads from time to time in relationships. Maybe one person is used to waking up early, and the other isn't, perhaps one person b

My Brother's Keeper

We may all be familiar with this question and its accompanying answer from the bible in Genesis 4:9 (NKJV) when God asked Cain "Cain where is Abel your brother? Cain replied, "I do not know, am I my brother's keeper?" I have heard this phrase "am I my brother's keeper?" used countless times by a lot of people, my self inclusive. The phrase is used as if to say, am I responsible for anyone other than myself? Photo: Jenn Evelyn Ann for Unsplash.com I get to work with the most amazing kids on the planet who have challenged this mindset, this way of thinking. I have learned so much in the little time I have spent with them. They are all so unique in their own right and bring different qualities

My Crazy SAN JUAN Experience

Gosh, I love to travel! I just love being on a plane, going nowhere slowly. Am I the only who feels plane sleep is the best? I remember the first time I headed to San Juan, Puerto Rico; I stayed up the night before with my friends. We were all excited for our four day trip to Puerto Rico and spent the whole night before the trip hanging out and talking. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 6 am the next day. As soon as I got on the plane, I knocked out. I was snoring (oops) I was so exhausted due to lack of sleep from the previous night. When we landed in Houston after the first leg of the trip, the guy who sat next to my friend said (referring to me) "she must be pretty exhausted huh." Fall

Revisiting Ground Zero: Girl Meets Boy (pt.2)

Ever remember the feeling of meeting someone new? Just like going on a blind date, you can't help but anticipate what the person will look or be like. Will they be kind or generous? Are they attractive? What if they have bad breath? (I wouldn't wish that on anyone) Even more interesting is when you don't expect to meet someone, and then it happens. All the giddiness and excitement! Especially if that person shows some interest in you as well, then you are on top of the world. Girl meets boy a continuation of The Back Story from the Revisiting Ground Zero series, takes you on a journey of how I met and fell for a guy named Fisayo. He was every girl's dream, well my dream to be precise. He was

Movie with a Message: Queen of Katwe

"Wherever you are from, your dreams are valid" Lupita Nyong'o Hey guys! I am excited to write my very first post under Movie With a Message. I am such a movie lover, I have recently fallen in love with storytelling, and I am a sucker for a good Under Dog story because it always leaves you believing that you too can achieve incredible things. Slumdog Millionaire, The Blind Side, McFarland, and Lion are a few of my favorites. Today I am going to focus on the Disney movie- Queen of Katwe, which was released back in 2016. The story is about a young girl named Phiona Mutesi, who lived in the slums of Uganda but gained considerable recognition and success because of her impeccable chess skills. W

Safe In My Father's Arms

God has not given us a spirit of fear I always wrestled with fear growing up, I don’t know if it had something to do with the movies I watched as a child, or if it’s because my parents never really taught me that I shouldn’t be fearful through the word of God, but all I know is that I was a very fearful child. I was scared of the dark and I couldn’t sleep in my bedroom alone, I often begged my brother to come share my room with me at night, bribing him with money and all sorts of things. Once it got to about 3pm during the day, I started with my negotiations “please come and sleep in my room tonight, I will give you money or I will buy you suya (roasted meat)”. I felt the happiest when I kn

Revisiting Ground Zero: The Back Story (pt.1)

“It’s gonna burn for me to say this but it’s coming from my heart, it’s been a long time coming until things fell apart, I really wanna work things out, but I don’t think you gonna change, I do but you don’t think it’s best we go our separate ways, tell me why I should stay in this relationship”… just kidding! Did you think I was going to type out the lyrics to the entire song? This was my jam back in the day. The beginning lyrics to Usher’s “Let it burn” is somewhat related to what I want to share with you guys. I have been a little nervous thinking about sharing this story with the world, but it is something God has been leading me to do recently. I am going to be as open as much as possib
