Healthy Relationships vs. Unhealthy Relationships

Find out how these two types of relationships can make or break our self-esteem. Relationships are a vital part of our existence because we need them to thrive. There is no one person on the planet that doesn’t have a relationship with somebody else. Relationships can range from work to family. Every day we come in contact with people, an exchange of some sort happens. In every sphere of the relationship spectrum, we need to know if we are in a healthy environment or not. Spotlight Monday: Raco Child & Rural Care Initiative

Touching lives, building hope for a better future in rural communities every day. We are back with an all-new edition of Spotlight Monday by Let's Talk Nation, where we shine the spotlight on people who are doing great things in their communities and how you can be a part of bringing about change, to people who are suffering. I recently came across Raco, which stands for; Rural Areas for Christ Outreach some weeks ago when I visited their home for orphaned and displaced kids. What struck me about the kids at Raco was the joy each child exhibited. Image courtesy of Raco They sang and danced like they had everything they would ever have need off in this world. They did not let their present ci

Following God's Direction

The importance of blind faith, in your walk with God I suck at anything that has to do with reversing while driving; I don’t know why it is so difficult for me. I have been driving for about 10 years now, but reversing isn’t my strongest suit. My cousin once told me that, I could never drive a get-away car; I had gotten a new car and was yet to have it registered. There was no license plate on it, and I could get in a lot of trouble, driving it around like that in Nigeria. So that particular day, we spotted the cops, and she asked me to reverse all the way to the back and make a sharp turn so the police wouldn't see us. Then I started struggling with reversing the car and eventually gave up,

Movie With a Message: Hidden Figures

Let your work speak for you Who has seen the movie Hidden Figures? Well if you haven’t or you want a reason to watch it again, I am going to try my best to fish out the hidden message from this movie so we can apply it to our lives. I love covering underdog stories here at Let's Talk Nation. These sorts of stories always leave me encouraged. This incredible movie was released back in 2016, and it won multiple awards including MTV award for best hero, BET award for best movie and SAG award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Friendships & Relationships

Why the two need to go hand in hand for a successful relationship Ever heard this phrase; marry your best friend? Whenever I heard it in the past, I always used to think that it really didn't matter. I did not have a lot of close guy friends that I would have even considered dating, let alone marrying one day. I figured at the time that if I met and fell for someone, then a friendship of some sort will forge in the relationship. I was friends with my college boyfriend before we started dating, and that has been the longest relationship I have had till date (so there is truth to this), but every other relationship started off based on attraction and emotions, basically on the wrong foot. As I

Wisdom Weekly: Guard Your Heart

“Would you let me, see beneath your beautiful, would you let me, see beneath your perfect, take it off now girl, take it off now girl, I wanna see inside, would you let me, see beneath your beautiful tonight.” I love this beautiful song by the UK artist Labrinth, titled Beneath Your Beautiful. In the song he is crying out to a girl who obviously has her walls up, to break them down and let him in so to speak. Our heart is a very delicate and precious part of us that even the bible instructs us to guard it because out of it flows all the issues of life. Today in wisdom weekly, I am going to share why we should guard our hearts and how we can protect this precious gift from God so we can keep

Got Faith?

The word faith means different things to different people. For some it may be their belief system, “what faith do you practice?” or for some, it may be the ability to trust God in very difficult times. Today I want to shed some light on the topic of faith, from the Christian perspective. Faith is very important in our Christian walk because that is the very thing our belief system hinges upon. As Christians we believe that God created the whole universe (both things seen & unseen), we also believe God sent His only son (Jesus) to die and come back to life for the redemption of humanity. In order to believe all these things we’ve been taught and also learned through the bible, we need to have

Relationship Red Flags

I am very passionate about relationships, so I like to talk about them and shed light on certain issues surrounding this great blessing & a curse (depending on how you use it). Today’s topic has to do with Red Flags; everyone who is matured enough to date has probably come across this phrase. A red flag is simply a warning of danger, it brings your attention to something that needs to be dealt with or avoided altogether. Now when it comes to relationships, red flags are warning signs that you may notice while dating/getting to know someone, that doesn't line up with what you may personally believe in or that are just flat out dangerous. I don't know all the red flags that are out there, but

The 90-Day Rule

When it comes to this thing called relationship, there is no one size fit all approach that can apply to everyone. Because we are all different and live in different parts of the world. Our environment and upbringing affect the way we view relationships. What may work for couple A, may not work for couple B. One thing I have realized is that you can't put humans in a box, we may all have similarities, but because of the experiences we have prior to meeting that significant other, rules and regulations might just push you guys further apart than bring you guys together. So when I hear about things like the 30-60-90 day rule, I just laugh and wonder who has come up with the latest money-making
