Today is Good Friday, many years ago on this day, Jesus was led to the cross, to give up his life for humanity. The Bible says about this—like sheep, he was led to be slaughtered, and he did not retaliate. The old way of doing things was going to be done away with forever. What his sacrifice did, was that it opened up the way for the Jews to have an open relationship with God. God also took it a step further; he made it possible for everyone who isn’t of Jewish heritage, to join in on the fun.

Now there is no longer a need for a high priest to offer sacrifices on behalf of people, because Christ did it, once and for all (Hebrews 10:1-18). We have direct access to the throne of grace. The Bible says in the book of Hebrews that we should come boldly to the throne of grace, And receive help in the time of need.
What Jesus sacrifice also did, was that the Holy Spirit was made available to everyone who believed (John 15:26). We now have a helper, an advocate, and a comforter, to navigate through life with. He is like our internal GPS, a compass of some sort: who shows us where to go, what to say, convicts us, and directs our every path if we let him. Now people don’t have to travel to Jerusalem if they have issues, to meet with a prophet or look for Jesus because he is now within us. We can pray directly to the Father, and ask for whatever we desire according to his will.
Related Article: The Disciples are Just Like Us Some may not understand it; some may not grasp why Jesus had to die, or why we should believe in him, and that’s fine. Christianity makes no sense to the carnal mind. Sometimes I wrestle with some things as well, but I’ve learned to ask God for understanding. It does not matter if you are a Christian or not; you can still ask him to show you the way.
So for today, let’s celebrate Jesus, his sacrifice; his great work he did for humanity by giving us direct access to God and making us joint-heirs with himself. Jesus lived a selfless life that he was willing to die for even those who did not love him. If you are not a Christian today and are interested in becoming one, it’s very easy.
Romans 10:9 says—“if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” In verse 12 it goes ahead to say that there is no distinction between the Jews and the Greek (a reference to everyone else), the same Lord over all, is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” So just call on Jesus today, and go from there.
