30 Reasons Why....

I am thankful to God for 30 years

I have been looking forward to turning the big 3-0 for quite a number of years now, and I am elated that the time is finally here. I have also discovered this about myself that I am not a big celebratory person, honestly; if I can just stay home today and have a good snooze, then my day would be made. But no, I just have to be an adult and go to work. Okay, enough of the whining, this is a gratitude post and not a complaint post.

I am actually very grateful to God for all He has done in my life and continues to do. So I have dedicated today's article, to highlight some of the things that I am thankful for. For those who don’t know, I am a Christian and God is my whole life. So permit me to praise Him on my birthday; here goes!

1–I am thankful to be alive, and see 30 years here on earth. A lot of great people kicked off their lives at 30, so I believe that mine will go in the direction God has for it. #Iam30 (Psalm 91:16)

2-I am thankful for all the detours life has thrown my way and the no’s, plus rejections I have experienced because I have learned that man’s rejection, is actually God’s protection (Isaiah 60:22).

3–I am thankful for my unexpected move to Nigeria. It was hard initially, but I am glad to be close to my family & do life with them (Jeremiah 29:11).

4–I am thankful that I have a purpose! What is life without a purpose? (Jeremiah 1:5).

5-I am thankful for health. If you have everything you can ever get out of this life and have no health to enjoy it, then what is the point? "Beloved, I want you to prosper and be in health above all else, just as your soul prospers (3 John 2).

6–I am thankful for my parents, who have always taken care of me and provided for me. Although my mom is no longer here, I am grateful for her nurturing and love throughout the 21 years we were together (1 Thessalonians 4:13).

7–I am thankful for God's mercy & protection. I leave my house each day and return home safely. I don't take it for granted (Psalm 121).

8-I am thankful for God’s love. The Bible says it’s the love of God that leads man to repentance. His love keeps us, preserves us, and steers us in the right direction (John 3:16).

9–I am thankful for God’s provision. I remember the times when things were a little tough and how He provided for me each month. This word is true—I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their seed begging bread (Hebrews 13:5-6).

10–I am thankful for the word of God; it is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path (Psalm 119:105).

11–I am thankful for my family. They are the best. Now I understand why God created us to be with others, for they help you get through the toughest times (Psalm 68:6).

12–I am thankful for great friendships; the people I get to do life with are amazing! (Proverbs 22:24-25).

13–I am thankful for prayers; the time I get to communicate with God is spectacular. For it empowers me, encourages me, and gives me peace & hope that everything will be fine for me (James 5:16).

14–I am thankful for peace. A lot of people suffer from anxiety and depression & end up taking their lives. I am glad that even in my darkest moments, I can turn to the word of God for solace. Philippians 4:6–And the peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard your heart and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

15–I am thankful for the experiences I have had, that have helped shaped my mind and who I am today. No one can ever take your experience from you (Psalm 119:46).

16–I am thankful for how my parents raised me. When I was younger, my parents didn't let us spend a lot of nights outside the house or go on holidays with others. I secretly wished that one of my mom's brothers was my dad because he always allowed his kids to travel. But now, as an adult, I wouldn't trade my father in for anyone else. He is the best. Love your parents, even in their flaws, God knew what He was doing when He paired them with you (Ephesians 6:2).

17–I am thankful for all the times God told me no! Now I understand that it was for my own good. And He has greater in store for me (Psalm 119:49-50).

18–I am thankful for all the times I have traveled around the world. It definitely made up for the summers growing up when I would just sit and listen to others talk about their trips to London and America and secretly wishing that my parents had enough funds to support those types of trips and not countless road trips to the village (ha-ha). But now I know they were planning for something better (Proverbs 13:22).

19–I am thankful for the gift of writing and this platform; Let’s Talk Nation, God has blessed me with. I don’t do it out of my own intelligence or wit. Whatever you see on my website is all God. We make a great team (2 Timothy 1:6).

20–I am thankful that I am almost done with the Nigerian NYSC program. I remember dreading it for months to come. I hoped that it would be delayed, but now I am so glad it wasn’t. I am done in a month! Yay! (Psalm 1:3).

21–I am thankful for all the failed relationships I have experienced; they are nothing compared to what is coming (Titus 1:6-9).

22-I am thankful to have grown up Nigerian. I always say that we have the best of both worlds. You can take a Nigerian to any part of the world and they would easily acclimatize. Yes, English is our first language; yes we understand what you are trying to articulate. Because we grew up exposed to media, which sort of prepared us for life outside our borders (ok rant over, haha)—Acts 17:26.

23–I am thankful for the convincing power I have. I am always convincing people to go see the movie I want to see, for people to come and spend weekends at my house and for us to do fun things. One of my friends once told me; Evi I can’t tell you no, I don’t know why. Another one said; it’s only the movie Evi wants to see that we end up seeing or it’s only what Evi wants to do that we end up doing. Not sure if that’s a good thing or bad, ha-ha (Luke 16:8-9).

24—I am thankful for my brother, he loves me like no other. And I am glad that God chose us to be siblings (Proverbs 17:17).

25—I am thankful for safety; there are a lot of people around the world that live in continuous danger, and I am here without worry for my life. God is awesome (Psalm 91).

26—I am thankful for Jesus; I cannot imagine life without His sacrifice. I am now a joint heir because of Him. Thank you, Jesus! (1 John3:16).

27—I am thankful for the wisdom God has given me, to be able to pass across His message with ease and simplicity (James 1:5).

28—I am thankful that I learned how to value myself; although I learned the hard way, I am glad for the lessons learned because it has made me become the woman that I am today (Psalm 139:14).

29—I am thankful for my pastors, Caleb & Alicia Moran, for all the years they poured into me and were there for me. Life was so much sweeter in Lafayette because of them and my church (John 10:27).

30—I am thankful for the woman, the 30-year-old woman I have grown to be. It has been quite a journey, and I am thankful for every bit of it (Psalm 21:4).

I am also grateful for my LTN readers and supporters, you guys encourage me to keep going. Sometimes I wonder who reads my blogs, and if they like it or if they are getting anything from it, then I get a great review and get all rejuvenated and remember why I began this platform in the first place. My prayer for Let’s Talk Nation every day is that it increases in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52).

Hope you guys enjoyed this gratitude article. What are you thankful for this week? You don't have to wait till your birthday to make it known. Have a blessed day, and remember to come back this week for more great content. Also, spread the word about LTN and let your friends know why you love it! Thank y'all for reading.
